It went really well. We ended up going second. The first performance, was done by an older gentleman who sung Christian Gospel played through a tape deck that came out of the sound system. He was really good, and during his second number, the tape deck just stopped working, and sarah says 'a capella', so he finished the entire song a cappella with the entire audience clapping along in time with him. That was really cool. Then Craving the Word took the stage. The first song we did was Ball of Clay, with Todd playing Bass. ( Read more...Collapse )
Perhaps pastor_lew can describe the lightwalker concert better than i can. Something else really awesome. Alex used to be the guitarist from Lightwalkter, but now he plays bass. During the concert, he played this beatiful five string bass, it's a beatiful blend of yellow and orange and the natural wood color. After it was all done, and we were standing around talking, he looks at us and says, you see that bass up there? I want you to take it and give it to Laen. We were shocked. Laen is a friend of ours who has wanted to be in the band, but didn't play anything. Alex bought that bass off the internet, got it in the email on Thursday, and played it once, on Saturday. And God told him to give it to Laen. It was one of the most incredible things that I've ever seen.

|magicalweasal||05:23 pm - The next concert in planning.|
Again, at Daniel's Den, is another concert. This one's a little farther in the future, Saturday May 1st, so hopefully by then there will be more readers, and it will offer more opportunity for planning. We will be going to see Fire by Nite. These guys seriously rock. They go wireless, so they come down and stand next to you. They will be playing with a band called Distilled Souls. I haven't heard anything about these guys, but anything with Fire by Nite is wicked awesome. 6 of us went to see them last time, and we all enjoyed ourselves. I will definitely be posting updates when plans get finalized.

Saturday, the 27th, Lewis, Laen, and more of us are going to see Lightwalker at Daniel's Den. The concert starts at 7:30, and it takes about an hour or so to get to Plano from Mendota. I'd like for all of us who are going to eat at Ziggies before we go. I'll post more info when I get it.
This Friday, the band I'm in, Craving the Word, is performing in an open mic night at Daniel's Den, a Christian coffeehouse in Plano, starting at 7:30 p.m. We will probably only play one or two songs, but it'll be good for us. Daniel's Den concerts are always free admission, but they take up an offering to support the bands.
Friday, April 30th, we are going to perform a 2.5-3 hr concert at Lewis's church in Mendota. Anyone interested in seeing us should definitely come to that one. I will post more information when it gets finalized.

A community created for the discussion of music, upcoming concerts, and local bands. If anyone you know is performing a concert soon, post it here.
I have enabled anonymous commenting because some people may want to read up on what's going on, but may not have an livejournal account. If this does become a problem, I will change it.
When you join, tell us about yourself. Not good at introductions? Here are some things we'd might like to know about you.
Start with your first and last name.
Tell us how old you are, and what you look like. I want to try to create the semblance of a group of people talking with each other, and if we were all sitting around together, we would know what everybody else looks like.
Tell us what you like.
Tell us what concerts you have been to recently, and what you thought about them.
The following basic community rules apply:
1. All posts must be on topic, dealing with music.
2. This is a friendly community, and while opinions about concerts and bands may be offered, it is not a license to bash another member.
3. Anonymous commenters must sign their name. Any comment found as such will be deleted without warning.
It will be assumed that all memebers and anonymous posters will have read these rules.
4. This is not community_promo, so please do not advertise your community here.
5. Long posts and/or pictures should be behind an lj-cut.
6. All entries should be public, as I hope that there are non-lj goers who frequent this communty and comment.
I hope this community starts out and remains a friendly place, open to everyone, for the discussion of music and the promotion of illinois valley bands.
